What collision repair covers

Collision repair is the process of restoring a vehicle's appearance, structural integrity, and safety systems after an accident. At Mike's, every collision job involves a detailed damage assessment, disassembly when needed, repair or replacement of affected panels, body filler and sanding, primer and paint color-matching, clear coat, and reassembly. For heavier damage we also perform frame straightening, bumper reinforcement replacement, and recalibration of any ADAS sensors (cameras, radar, parking sensors) that were affected.

What to expect during the repair process

After you drop off your vehicle (or after we pick it up via our sister company, All Day All Night Towing), we write a detailed estimate and submit it to your insurance. Depending on the damage, repairs typically take anywhere from a few days (cosmetic panel work) to three or four weeks (major structural repair with waiting on parts). We keep you updated throughout, and we'll coordinate a rental vehicle for you during the repair. When your car is ready, we provide a full walkthrough of the work performed so you can see exactly what was done.

Navigating insurance claims

You don't have to use the shop your insurance company suggests. That's Massachusetts law. We work with every major insurer, document damage thoroughly, and complete every repair to OEM manufacturer safety standards — including OEM parts when manufacturer specifications call for them. If you're not sure how to handle your claim, call us first. We'll walk you through it, free of charge, before you talk to your insurance adjuster.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked

If you don't see your question, give us a call. We're happy to walk you through it.

Yes. Every repair at Mike's Auto Body is completed to manufacturer (OEM) repair standards — the documented procedures and specifications the automaker published for your specific make, model, and year. That covers OEM replacement parts where the manufacturer requires them, factory welding and sectioning procedures, approved refinish materials, and required ADAS sensor calibration. As an I-CAR Gold Class Certified shop, our technicians are trained to those current standards. Repairing to OEM standards is what keeps your vehicle's safety systems, structural integrity, and warranty intact.
